SAN PEDRO SULA CITY TOUR shopping &
sightseeing
A morning departure from the airport will take us on an excellent paved
highway through East Highway, the trip from the airport to San Pedro will take
less than 15 minutes, we will head directly to La Plazita cafe, where we will
enjoy a typical breakfast snack, consisting of Honduras most famous breakfast
food "the baleada" , this is a flower tortilla wrapped with red refried beans
and local cheese, this will be accompanies with a good Honduran coffee , then we
just cross the street & visit the Guamilito market, because shopping in San
Pedro Sula can be fun. This market is the best place to purchase everything from
rum, Cigars, coffee and vanilla, as well as handicrafts to take home as
souvenirs. The first rule at Guamilito is you barter any price that is given to
you. As a general rule, you should be able to pay between 15 and 20% less than
the original price you were quoted. The local rum is the Flor de Caña, and they
have several different quality products. As for handicrafts, the most
attractive are the handmade wood carvings, as well as the weaved baskets and
panama hats from Santa Barbara. Thee items have colorful patterns and are a real
bargain. Last, but not least, Honduran cigars have become an excellent souvenir
or gift to take back home. After this visit we will transfer to the local exotic
tropical fruit wine vintage, this is a place where they produce non traditional
wines from rare plants such as Hibiscus, Rambutan, Blueberries etc, this wine
vintage is located in a beautiful green house with plants from the whole
country, our visit there includes wine tasting & also brandy, if we ever manage
to get out of there we head back to the airport.
