This is the perfect tour for anyone interested in the culture and history of of our beautiful Honduras. It can be an add-on to a Bay Island vacation (tour can start in San Pedro Sula for the same price,) or better yet, it can be added before or after your tour to the Mayan ruins of Copan. Besides some beautiful scenery and cool high altitude temperatures, the tour highlights colonial Honduras and the fusion of the Lenca Indian culture with that of the the European and the resulting legacy of traditions and culture that is still very much alive today.

Not strenuous, but be prepared to walk at time. A light jacket may be necessary in the higher elevations.

Day 1 Santa Rosa de Copán From Copan Ruinas, transfer to Santa Rosa de Copán. City tour of the Historical District of Santa Rosa, where we learn the history and foundation of the city, its economical importance since colonial times, and the important roll that the city plays in developing western Honduras. Later in the morning we see cigars being hand made at  La Flor de Copán Tobacco Factory then depart for Corquín, a lovely colonial town famous for one of the best coffees in western Honduras.
After Lunch at the historical Casa Grande Restaurant, we see coffee processing at a local organic coffee farm then return to Santa Rosa de Copán for the evening. Overnight at Hotel Elvir or equivalent.

Day 2
Gracias and the Lenca Villages.
Early departure for La Campa, a village famous for its pottery which is hand made using the an ancient pre-columbian technique. After lunch, we drive to Gracias and check in at Hotel Guancascos.
We tour the historical district of the ciy which was once the capital city of Central America. Gracias has many colonial buildings and a rich history which includes the conquering of the Lenca territory by Spain in the 1500's. Legends and tales abound as we stroll the town discovering the local culture and traditions. Later in the afternoon we relax body and soul by visiting the Arcilaca hot springs.

Day 3
San Juan, La Esperanza and Yojoa Lake
Our first stop, after an early departure from Gracias, first stop will be San Juan, to have the placer of a country style breakfast and an allspice brewed coffee, a local delicacy. As we head toward La Esperanza, we pass through the valley of Azacualpa. This is a fertile land that, planted with a vast variety of vegetables by Lenca farmers, runs the local economy.
With an early afternoon arrival at Yojoa Lake, we have time to hike at Los Naranjos Archaeological Park and enjoy the local fauna on well kept nature trails. Check in at Hotel Las Glorias with its beautiful mountain rimmed lakeside view.

Day 4
Transfer to  San Pedro Sula

Transfer to San Pedro Sula airport with a stop at Guamilito’s craft market if time permits.
