Cayos Cochinos

Named by early mariners who anchored their sailing ships in the natural harbors to hunt the wild hogs that roamed the forested mountains.  A visit to the "hog islands" today is even more satisfying.  There are few permanent villages, but north coast Garifuna fishermen love to set thatched champas on the beach for a season of fishing. Access to the cays is by boat from La Ceiba, and while day trips are available, the private beaches, beautiful views, great snorkeling and diving, and the luxury of true privacy makes a Cayos vacation one that you will remember forever.
