A lively tropical port town liberally
dosed with steamy Caribbean intrigue. Besides being the North
coast host, and a gateway to the Bay Islands, La Ceiba has plenty
to offer herself. It's a great walking town, so bring your camera
because there's no telling what sights you'll find on these lively
streets. There's plenty of night life and good restaurants and
hotels. Rainforests, beaches, and white water rafting are all
nearby.

Nestled under the mountains and facing the sea, Trujillo still retains it's romantic atmosphere and remnants of it's varied past. The oldest city in Honduras, founded in 1525 by the Spanish, Trujillo has been at times a refuge for Black Caribes, sacked by Henry Morgan, fought over by the English and French, and has housed a number of renegades including the infamous William Walker, who was unceremoniously shot here in 1860, and O. Henry (Sidney Porter) who wrote Of Cabbages and Kings here while fleeing embezzlement charges in New York. Nowadays we just call them "characters," and you'll probably meet a few during your stay.
